Be A Samaritan Programme

Suicide is a major public and mental health concern in communities around the world. According to World Health Organisation (WHO), it is estimated that approximately 700,000 people die from suicide each year.

In this programme, you will learn to identify those who may be at-risk individuals, and will be equipped with basic techniques to engage and encourage distressed individuals to seek help and provide emotional support in an empathetic and professional manner. This knowledge and skill-based basic lifeline programme will encourage the “Samaritans” to be more confident and better equipped with the know-how to be an available lifeline to anyone in crisis.

Participants are required to take part in the 2 parts for this programme:

1st: Suicide Prevention 101 Workshop (e-learning basic knowledge-based workshop)

2nd: #HowRU Workshop (online/onsite skill-base workshop)

Participants are also encouraged to take part in the subsequent workshop after completion of BAS:

3rd: Suicide Risk Assessment Workshop

E-certification issued upon completion.
