World Suicide Prevention Day 2019

Helping teens through their darkest hours.

Turning a hashtag into a platform of hope.

Over the past year, SOS noticed that there was a sharp increase in youth aged 10 to 29 writing in to SOS for help. As the world around them goes to bed, the night becomes a worrying place where they are left alone with their thoughts.

On 9 September 2019, Suicide Prevention Week. We launched a nationwide social movement to reach out to those in need. People were encouraged to leave a message in support of suicide prevention through their social channels on our hashtag. Within 24 hours, the hashtag was filled with inspiring artworks, quotes, songs, personal stories and live sessions. But it didn’t stop there. Local communities and businesses jumped on the movement to show their support for suicide prevention.

Letting those in need know that they are not alone, even in the darkest hours.
